Wearing Nectar sunglasses, Lobo Mau sweatshirt, F21 skirt, Nine West sandals, Alexander Wang wristlet
If you have been keeping up with STYLE, SHE WROTE., then you know that my hubby and I recently moved to San Francisco from the East Coast. After a lifetime of dressing for snow, sand and everything in between, I am now learning how to dress for SF living.
SF’s constant spring-like temperatures mean I can actually wear most of my wardrobe – something I have not enjoyed on the East Coast in many years, as the seasonal changes have basically been from winter to summer and back again – but the city’s many micro-climates create fluctuations in the scheduled forecast at every turn. I have had many outfit misses over the past month because of these atmospheric changes, like roasting in a thick cable sweater and velvet pants in one of the city’s sunny sections, and freezing in an embroidered top and skinny jeans in the foggy Outer Sunset. A stereotypical ex-New Yorker, I also have a penchant for wearing black -- a color not often found in the land of chambray shirts, military green jackets, white jeans, and tan suede boots.
But ever persistent, I decided to concentrate my styling efforts to create a great look for date night with my husband this weekend. Inspired by the budding oversized-sweatshirts-as-dresses trend, I paired my FAVORITE oversized sweatshirt by Philly-based label Lobo Mau with a black mini skirt and bright red lace-up sandals. I kept warm in the cold ‘hoods, cool in the hot ones, and no longer looked like a member of the Addams Family. Even better, I felt comfortable and confident everywhere we went -- which felt very good indeed.
