Tried & Tested + Giveaway! John Russo Nail Lacquer

Nail polish has been worn for thousands of years, perhaps most notably in ancient China, where royals painted their nails in rich shades of gold and silver. Today, John Russo Beauty continues this royal tradition with their luxurious nail lacquers. Founded by celebrity and fashion photographer John Russo, John Russo Beauty (JRB) is a highly-coveted product line previously available only to Russo's celebrity clients, but now found in select beauty boutiques.

Two weeks ago, JRB asked me to review four of their lacquers on STYLE, SHE WROTE. Their nail lacquers are known for being easy to apply, fast drying and long lasting, and made from a special formaldehyde, toluene and dibutyl phthalate-free formula that hydrates and strengthens nails. With four bottles to sample and only twenty nails on which to try them, I enlisted the help of my sisters, avid nail polish wearers Lisa and Crista. Here's what we found:

Wearing John Russo Nail Lacquer in Joey Gray

I say, "I try to treat myself to a salon pedicure every few weeks, but I didn't have time for one this month. Instead, I decided to fake a professional pedicure with John Russo's perfect-shade-of-medium-gray Joey Gray lacquer. Truth be told, I was skeptical that I would be able to fool anyone with my pedicure skills -- or lack thereof! -- and was pleasantly surprised by the results. Thanks to JRB's rich formula and wide brush applicator, the lacquer glided on smoothly and dried quickly to a lustrous finish. Two weeks and several outings later, the polish still looks perfect!"

Lisa wearing John Russo Nail Lacquer in Gert

Lisa says, "I had the pleasure of sampling John Russo Nail Lacquer in Gert for a very special occasion. I wanted my nails to stand out, and this color did not disappoint -- it has just the right amount of 'glimmer' to make your nails look simply fabulous. Of important note: I tend to ruin a good manicure even after spending two or more cycles under the nail dryer. The John Russo lacquer not only dries quickly, but it still shows no signs of chipping following household chores -- cooking, cleaning and washing dishes -- without gloves. All in all, the lacquer is fun, flirty and fierce. If you're a girl who's tough on her nails, John Russo is the nail lacquer for you!"

Crista wearing John Russo Nail Lacquer in Bushey

Crista says, "After enjoying sand and surf on a recent vacation, my pedicure was destroyed and I needed an emergency fix. Enter John Russo Beauty's nail lacquer. I loved the color, which is a very on-trend pale mint hue. Normally pale colors make my fair skin looked washed out or give a gray or yellow cast, but this color was very flattering. It was really easy to apply thanks to a wide applicator brush, and didn't clump or streak, even after applying two coats of the polish and a clear top coat. I've had it on for a week already and it still looks perfect."
