Confession: My favorite color is leopard. Okay, it's not really a color, but if it were it would be my favorite. I've had a passion for this pattern since I was a teenager, when I begged my mother for a pair of leopard-print pants for my fifteenth birthday. I thought them sophisticated and very grown-up; she thought them tacky. A two-month battle ensued, but eventually she relented. Thirteen years later, they're still in my closet - and I still wear them.
Now this would normally be the part of my post where I discuss the use of leopard prints throughout fashion history, but I found this amazing article on the subject by SSENSE.com. (It has lots of juicy images and some equally-juicy research; why re-invent the wheel?) For spring 2014, leopard gets a vibrant update in an array of bold colors, from pastel pinks to emerald greens, cobalt blues to sunshine yellows, as seen in the under $100.00 finds above. S.S.W. ASKS: Will YOU dare to wear these spots of color?
