Under $300: Fabulous in Fuchsia‎

Although fuchsia earned its name in the sixteenth century, it was the chemists William Henry Perkins and Francois-Emmanuel Verguin who really put the color on the modern fashion map. Perkins and Verguin discovered pink-purple aniline dyes in 1856 and 1859, respectively, launching a craze for mauve, fuchsia, magenta, and other pink-purple hued clothes and accessories among nineteenth-century stylesetters (more on that here).
