Suede -- or leather with a napped finish -- is one of my favorite materials. The word "suede" comes from the mid-nineteenth-century phrase gants de Suede (French for "Swedish gloves"); Suède was mistaken for the material rather than the country of origin. As the misnomer suggests, the leather was originally used for gloves, but quickly became fashionable for an array of other accessories, including handbags. As seen on countless fall 2013 runways, colored suede bags are a must this season. From autumnal tones (cranberry red, chestnut brown, yellow mustard) to cool hues (cobalt blue, forest green, and steel gray), check out the many colorful, under $100.00 styles to shop in the above slideshow.
