I have to thank my pal Stephanie of South Feaster-delphia for alerting me to the Catherine Malandrino for Kohl's collaboration. I completely missed the announcement in March. Fortunately, I have not missed the collection itself, which is available online now and in Kohl's stores on September 27th. Malandrino's Kohl's collection was inspired by every American woman's "French dream," according to the designer. Her limited edition line of $150.00 or less tops, skirts, pants, dresses and outerwear is filled with French style and design signatures, like berets, Breton stripes, and images of the Eiffel Tower. Speaking of the latter, Malandrino is not the first designer to be inspired by iconic iron lattice; Paris-based designers Jean-Paul Gaultier and Patrick Kelly both celebrated the structure in their womenswear collections. Kelly's 1989 design celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Tower that same year. It seems not only American women dream of the City of Light.
