If you follow us on Facebook, you may have seen this photo last week. Crista and I are life-long hosiery devotees; I suspect comes from wearing opaque tights with our school uniforms for many years. Naturally, I was very excited to see the many pretty pairs of Hanes Silk Reflections pantyhose and tights the company sent over for review. Pantyhose and tights can easily update your look without breaking your bank, especially if you shop the affordable pairs offered by Hanes.
First up: Hanes Silk Reflections Ultra Sheer Pantyhose (3-pack, $22.49 via Hanes.com), seen here on the leggy Sofia Vergara. Now I knew that Sofia was a fan of the brand when I received the pantyhose, and I may have fantasized that slipping into these sheers would morph into... well, her. (By may I mean I totally did.) You may be shocked to learn that this did not happen. I was disappointed at first... until I saw my legs in the mirror.
My pegs look pretty good, no? (Note: I'm the one on the left.)
These sheers offer sexy, barely there leg coverage, while their Spanx-like control top smooths your midsection. I wore mine out on the town with a Halston Heritage dress (via Daffy's, similar here) to celebrate Crista's recent birthday.
Next up: Hanes Silk Reflections Boot Liner Control Top Tights ($15.00/pair via Bare Necessities), shown here with this Banana Republic dress and these Payless boots. For the record: I hate wearing socks over tights/under boots because they always make the boots too snug. Or the socks bunch. Or my feet get sweaty. (Yes, my feet get sweaty. Gross, I know.) So I practically jumped for joy when I saw these tights in the "to try" pile. These thick tights have a built-in ribbed feet that eliminate the need for socks and prevent you from slipping and sliding around in your shoes.
One minor issue -- Depending on your height and the height of your boots, the ribbed portions may be visible around your ankles. I thought this gave my outfit a bit of edge, but maybe that isn't your thing.
Last but not least: Hanes Silk Reflections Lace Trellis Control Top Pantyhose (3-pack, $22.99 via Hanes.com). I paired mine with a black turtleneck, my beloved laser cut skirt from BCBG (similar here) and Payless boots. With their leg-spiraling floral pattern, these tights are fun to wear. I got oodles and oodles of compliments on them today; in fact, I lost track after the 37th person remarked on them. (I'm just kidding... it was only 36 people.) But in all sincerity, the tights were comfortable to wear, and provided some razzmatazz to my otherwise basic outfit.
