It's time for the glasses to come off.
After 4+ years of blogging under the pen names Lynnie and Jackie (left to right), we have decided to drop our noms de plume and use our given names. (For the story behind the pseudonyms, click here.)
We initially chose to use pen names because we wanted to maintain our anonymity. We admit, we started STYLE, SHE WROTE. for selfish reasons. We wanted a medium to help us develop our own personal styles and reflect on contemporary fashion trends. But, much to our surprise, we rapidly built a strong following. As life-long budget shoppers, we thought it better to parlay our chic on the cheap approach into a blog that focused on quality fashions at low prices -- a focus we believe benefits our readers.
Through blogging, we have been able to build careers as freelance fashion and lifestyle writers and editors. Crista writes for Bridal Guide magazine and BELLA NYC magazine; I serve as BELLA NYC's Fashion Editor, and have written for Berg Publishers, Federated Media, the Smithsonian Institution, and have my first e-book (!!) coming out with DAP Publishers this fall. (But more on that later.)
Our freelance success is the main reason why we have decided to stop using pen names. Frankly, they create confusion when we try to promote our writing projects on STYLE, SHE WROTE. (Not surprising, considering that our friends don't know who is who!) We've also become more comfortable with our writing styles and in our own skins, and want to credit -- full credit! -- for our hard work.
So allow us to re-introduce ourselves. We're Crista and Laura!
