Adventures: "The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor" at Christie's

Louis Vuitton luggage and a Valentino suit belonging to the late Elizabeth Taylor

Lynnie and I stopped by Christie's today to see The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor, which displayed eye-catching clothes and accessories, movie memorabilia, art, and jewelry once owned by the late actress. These items will be on sale at the auction house December 13-17; over 950 lower-priced items (starting at $150.00) are currently for sale on Christie's website.

Needless to say, the galleries were jam packed with visitors hoping to catch a glimpse of Taylor's former possessions. Rather unsurprisingly (given its fame), Lynnie and I were most impressed by Taylor's jewelry collection, especially the infamous 33+ carat diamond ring given to her by Richard Burton. (It nearly blinded us!) Photography was not permitted in the galleries, but we did manage to take a picture of ourselves outside Christie's with Taylor's jewels on a poster in the background.

Not visually satisfied? (We can't say we blame you.) To see more images of Elizabeth Taylor's estate, click through this Time magazine slideshow.

That collection of jewelry is jaw-dropping. Elizabeth had such a great sense of style. It was slightly over-the-top but it worked for her.

Once, when I was in my teens, I was told that I looked like Elizabeth Taylor ... but I was in a Chinese costume, heavy make-up and wig, ready for a bit part in the chorus. I think that it was the eyeliner that did it!!
