Closing the Gape

I love a crisp button down blouse but hate fighting "the gape" -- "the straight see-through-to-the-bra phenomenon" that happens between buttons. Rochelle Behrens, a buxom D.C. lobbyist, hating busting out of her blouses at work as well, so much so that she went on a crusade to find a full-coverage shirt. When she couldn't, she created The Shirt, a classic white blouse guaranteed to cover your curves. The Shirt has gotten rave reviews from Oprah Winfrey and The New York Times, and we're adding the Style, She Wrote seal of approval. Get your own for $90.00 at Bloomingdale's and select boutiques nationwide.

That is fantastic. I have also had the same issues, about time someone made a perfect white shirt! :)

That's brilliant! The 'gape' is what puts me off button-downs though I love them passionately

What a great idea. I am not particularly busty but suffer from this problem all the time.

I love the idea that a person sees an issue commony faced in style and when there are no real solutions, they create them. This is an excellent idea for women, and absolutely a great investment.

What a great concept, it sounds awesome! A custom-made shirt to fit your individual body could also solve the problem. Off the rack items don't account for the varying curves from woman to woman. However it's nice to see an off the rack item that Rochelle created to work so well!

I invented something along these lines for a project in college, but it was just something that attached to an existing shirt. If only I had persevered and designed an actual shirt?! Darn, but it is a great idea!
